VischeckPS For Mac version 0.9 Feb 28 2004 (this file last revised 2006.01.25) INSTALLATION VischeckPS is a plug-in for Adobe's Photoshop. This version is for the Mac OS and Mac OSX operating system. To install, simply place the unzipped file file into your Photoshop "Plug-Ins" folder. Start Photoshop (or re-start it if it was already running), and you should find the "Vischeck" option under Photoshop's "Filters" menu. USAGE TIPS To use any PhotoShop filter, your image mode must be 'RGB'. It can not be 'bitmap' or 'indexed color'. Note that if you open a gif with PhotoShop, it will by default be in 'indexed color' mode. To apply Vischeck (or any other PhotoShop filter), you need to convert your image to RGB. Do this by selecting 'RGB color' from the 'Mode' submenu of the 'Image' menu. ABOUT VISCHECK Vischeck draws on algorithms developed at many different vision laboratories around the world. In particular, this plug-in owes a great deal to a 1997 paper by Brettel, Vienot and Mollon entitled "Computerized simulation of color appearance for dichromats" (Journal of the Optical Society of America v14 pp2647) and to recent work from Brian Wandell's group at Stanford (http://white.stanford.edu).
